Our mission is to catalyse society’s transition towards a more sustainable and low-carbon world.
We achieve this by:

Why
Us
Deep Industry Knowledge
Combined, our team has decades of experience in Sustainable Finance, Sustainability Reporting and environmental sciences and are experienced in all key sustainability reporting requirements e.g. TCFD, SASB, CDP, EU Taxonomy as well as methodologies and tools such as PACTA or SBTi-FI.
We have held senior technical and leadership roles in a number of civil society and private organisations.
We have worked globally with hundreds of companies and financial institutions implementing cutting edge methodologies and tools.
Years of Experience
Our team members each have over 15 years' of academic and professional experience in climate science, environmental management, sustainability reporting and/or sustainable finance.
Our team has worked closely with a large selection of European, French, and British regulators, policy makers and supervisors, as well as international corporates and financial institutions.
In-house Research Teams
Our team is nimble and able to adapt to your needs and timeframes.
We are able to rely on a network of expert associates to support project delivery if our immediate team is unable to answer short-term needs.
Our Ethics
At 1Planet Advisory, we want to ‘walk the talk’.
We strongly believe in the sustainability models we advise our partners on and continually work to implement them for ourselves too.
This helps us minimise any negative environmental and societal impact we might have had as well as, we believe, strengthen our business.
As such, we:

Donate 1.5% of our annual profits to initiatives or charitable organisations dedicated to the protection of the planet (1.5 was chosen to reflect the temperature goal targeted in the Paris Agreement)

Apply a “Do no significant harm” policy: we carefully select work and partners based on their missions, their activities and their alignment with our values

Maintain our independence and reject ‘greenwashing’. We build our relationships around adding value and developing trust over the long-term, not around telling partners what they want to hear. If the message is difficult, we will work with them to identify solutions.

Minimise our environmental footprint and offset our travel-related carbon emissions
Our Team
Simon Messenger
CEO
Simon Messenger is the Founder and CEO of 1Planet Advisory.
He is currently an advisor to the IFRS Foundation (International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)), Technical Advisor to the UNEP FI Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) and Advisor to FinanceMap.
He has held a number of senior roles in the field and was previously Director at the 2 Degrees Investing Initiative (2Dii) and Managing Director at the Climate Disclosure Standards Boards (CDSB).
He has over 15 years’ professional and academic experience in climate change, extra-financial reporting and sustainable finance.
Additional team members operate as associates to 1Planet Advisory as and when required.
